Ken Kirupa – Friend of the Momiji Health Care Society
PC Candidate and John Baird Attend Momiji Centre for Tour and "Lug-A-Mug" Birthday Celebrations
May 21, 2014 –Ontario Progressive Conservative Candidate for Scarborough-Guildwood Ken Kirupa, and John Baird, MP for Ottawa-West Nepean joined the residents and members of the Momiji Centre today. They were joined by Pam Waintraub, Chair of the Board of Directors, Christopher Reid, Director of Finance, and Lee Mixon, Community Services Liaison. The group participated on a tour of the Momiji Centre, which included stops at the watercolour painting and exercise classes.
Baird described his positive impressions of the Momiji Centre, particularly the high skills and talent of those in the watercolour class. He told the residents that he was "very excited to be at the Momiji Centre with Ken".
Kirupa spoke with the residents about the PC Party Plan to give patients more choice in the health services they receive, and bring health care closer to home. He said, "The Liberals are just forcing services on our seniors. That’s not right. We recognize that patients and their families are in the best positions to make decisions and we will bring choice back to health care."
After the tour, both Baird and Kirupa joined residents in the auditorium for the monthly "Lug-A-Mug" event to celebrate residents’ birthdays. There were several residents with birthdays in May, and Baird and Kirupa made a special mention of Ms. Amy McLean, who is turning 100 on May 25, 2014.
Kirupa told the crowded auditorium that "the PC Party is a friend of the Momiji Centre" and he looks forward to working with the residents to ensure that the Centre continues to provide exceptional services to the community.
